Hope (A Photograph)

Analog Spectre is exploring the present through the eyes of the past.
There's something beautiful about imperfection and uncertainty in an age of 8K resolution and pixel-perfection. Sensors become more expansive, editing software becomes evolves, and the ever looming shadow of AI barrels forward into our collective spaces, four fingers at a time.
There's something beautiful about holding a block of metal and glass from 1971 that has managed to survive in backpacks, pawn shops, and estate sales complete with all its mechanisms and gaskets intact whilst the ever growing inevitability of seized cogs and rusted blades stares from the distance, acceptance hanging in unknown time.
There's something beautiful about telling a story that is only half yours.
You set the lighting
you check your meters
you line up the frame
you request the pose
you squint one eye
you look through the viewfinder
you ratchet the arm
you press the shutter release
you
hope.
It's all you have in that moment.
your story
your steps
your hope
There's something beautiful about not knowing.
There's something beautiful about only knowing half the story.
There's something beautiful
in
hope.
