The Sea

The infinite sea.
A space where emptiness and entirety meet.
A space where one can float.
Float away...
Float away.
This is a post about music.
More specifically, this is a post about the experience of doom/noise/drone music. Instrumental music. Ambient music.
Music that lets us float away.
Sometimes it seem like there is too much to process at once. Too many thoughts, intentions, details to consider, plans to make, promises to keep, details to consider, methods to optimize and subscription services billing dates to keep track of so you don't get an unexpected NSF fee in the chequings account.
How does one quell the endless chatter of synaptic firings and daily reminders?
The Sea.
Take a deep breath,
Hold it.
And start the track.
There's something beautiful in the minimalism of that dissonant hum preceding the simple, slow, calm repetition of distorted single note harmonies, accented with the echoed taps of snare and kick.
It's so quiet in all of its noise.
しずかとうるさい
...and then we drift.
Just for a little while.
Into that dark, quiet, loud, nothing and everything.
And it's calm.
Infinitely calm.
